Street children of Nepal (Khate)

Street children of Nepal are known by name Khate. Khates are those orphan children’s who don’t have family, house, and nobody to look around. They come from different family, cast, religion etc. Many of them have left their house due to domestic violence and, some left house because of his or her step mother. Most of the day, these khate, they collects garbage, begging around ,and even snatch foods from local vendors ,from the collected money they purchase dendrite start sniffing it .Their health condition are very poor even small or big wound they don’t use medicine .We can easily found lots of scars in their body , dog bitten , would cut by sharp things .Due to unhealthy condition, living in dirty and dendrite ,there is always a great risk of suffering from diseases in their life .The dendrite , a solution which is use to stick shoes and which are easily available in the market, sold in both drug stores and hardware stores very cheap and easily available in the market. It is none other than a sticky adhesive gluten substance commonly known as dendrite solution. Before, they use to take used syringe. which are the main cause of HIV, Aids and other diseases.
If you happen to be in a car in Kathmandu waiting for a red light, don’t be amazed to witness the street children congregating around your car begging for money with a plastic bag in hand. These bags, usually filled with gluten, might look like a harmless, playful thing to us - but it is cheap and extremely harmful substitute for getting high and intoxicated.
Street children are the most vulnerable lot. Sexual abuse is hidden but a widely prevalent suffering among them. No child is safe and away from this cauldron of suffering. Approximately 99 per cent of them are physically and psychologically abused. Child sexual abuse may include fondling a child’s genitals, masturbation, oral-genital contact, digital penetration, and vaginal and anal intercourse. The other ways a child can be abused with are direct physical contact, such as sex by exposures, voyeurism and child pornography, use of obscene language, also referred to as non-contact abuse, and shows a research conducted jointly by CPSC NGO Nepal, CPCS INT Belgium and VOC Nepal.
There are also 100’s of NGO, who are established specially to help these street children (Khate) , as a result we don’t see any effective and important role played by these NGO’s. Now a day’s these Khate have become tourist attraction in the tourist areas such as Thamel .We can see that if a tourist refuse to give money to a khate , he then convinced him to buy them the expensive food stuff, and that money they again resale at 50% less and get the money. Some what the local supermarket using them to attract the customers.
