Maoists thrash priests:
The newly appointed Pashupatinath temple priests on Friday september 4th afternoon on the temple premises.Both the Bhattas were dragged away from the Bhandar house to the Shankaracharya temple a few hundred metres away and thrashed,according to Sushil Nahata ,member -secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT),
Police said nearly 50 Maoist cadres entered the temple in the guise of pilgrims and began protesting .The mob beat up five policemen also who were deployed on the premises.
The UCPN (Maoist ) –affiliated struggle committee has been protesting the appointment of Indian priests since last week and PADT administration has been padlocked since Sunday .Their demands includes appointment of Nepali priests and transparency in the offering made at the temple.
